Visual Planet revolutionises the property search
The issue
Russell Residential, an established high street firm of Estate and Letting Agents in Cambridge, is a progressive company, looking to offer the public a mix of traditional and modern methods of househunting. Senior Partner, Robert Russell was keen to make his static window display more exciting and enticing to prospective home buyers and to offer those selling their homes greater value. He contacted Visual Planet to discover more about the benefits an interactive display would offer.
Solution
Visual Planet replaced the lifeless window display with an interactive billboard. The dynamic technology allows public, passing outside of the office, to browse through available properties by touching the window. They can go on a virtual tour, request information and ask for an appointment, by simply pressing a finger against the glass.
Web information and colourful digital images are projected onto a large 50inch holograph screen that can be seen clearly in daylight and at night. Connected to the company's website, content is updated instantly as properties are added or deleted, with no need for duplication of effort. Messages and special offers can be added with ease using the existing back office device.
Russell Residential chose to also use the display to fund-raise for a local hospice, and its launch generated regional and national publicity.
Key benefits
Robert Russell identified clear benefits from installing the technology. He was most impressed that his business would be "working" long after closing hours.
He says: "The touch screen system allows home buyers who work full time, a chance to view property details at a time that suits them and offers people selling their homes greater opportunities for visibility. The images grab the attention of passers-by and we receive numerous enquiries as a direct result of our interactive display, as users can request information and leave contact details."
Russell Residential plan to quickly recoup all expenses for the technology through non-evasive advertising on the display - without passing the cost on to customers. Robert adds: "We believe that the 'Open All Hours' window sets us apart from our competitors and projects our forward-thinking outlook. The technology is so simple, it can be used by anyone."
Visual Planet
Vernon Spencer, Technical Director at Visual Planet, believes the business benefits from installing even just one display are immense. "The interactive display enables a huge product range to be viewed in the shop window by potential customers, and offers added opportunities for promotion after normal working hours to a wider audience."
Vernon, who was part of the original team behind PIPEX, the UK's first commercial Internet Service Provider, believes sight is our most powerful sense. "Visual images can convey more information than the spoken or written word, which is what makes the interactive displays so effective. People connect with the bright images and information and enjoy the freedom of feeling their way around the window. There is no need for keyboards or control sticks, you just have to touch, for it to come alive."
